Unaccompanied minors

1. Definition 

– Unaccompanied Minors – UM are passengers aged from 02 years to under 12 years on the date of commencement of travel of a segment (his/her flight) who travel alone on the flight or on his class of service. This passenger is not accompanied by his/her parents/guardians or authorized adult (aged 18 years or more on the date of commencement of a segment) who travel on the same flight with the same flight number and same class of service with the minor. 

– Young passengers traveling alone – YPTA are passengers aged from 12 years to under 18 years on the date of commencement of travel of a segment (his/her flight) who travel alone on the flight or on his class of service. This passenger is not accompanied by his/her parents/guardians or authorized adult (aged 18 years or more on the date of commencement of a segment) who travel on the same flight with the same flight number and same class of service with the YPTA. 

 

2. Conditions of acceptance 

a) General conditions: 

– If cabin crew accompanying service is required: advance booking must be made at least 72 hours before departure for itineraries containing only domestic sectors, at least 120 hours before departure for itineraries involving international sectors. 

– In case UM/YPTA does not require cabin crew accompanying service (for cases that do not require cabin crew accompanying service): UM/YPTA requests must be made at least 24 hours before deparure. 

– UM service is accepted on itineraries with under 06 hours connecting time. 

– Fees shall be charged to passengers booking the UM / YPTA and/or accompanying cabin crew service (if booked). 

– In principle, UM/YPTA service must be requested at least 24 hours before departure. However, in case passengers require UM/YPTA service at the airport without having booked before, our Station Manager will check the conditions of acceptance, based on passenger’s status and the actual situation at departure/ arrival airports, then make the decision to accept or deny boarding.

YPTA aged between 12 and less than 18 years

3. Required documents 

– 03 copies of the declaration of indemnity (to be kept at the booking office, Bamboo Airways representative at the airport and in the UM/YPTA travel document); 

– 05 copies of the required document for unaccompanied minor: 3 copies for Ground Handling Company at 3 airports (departure, transit, arrival); 2 copies for cabin crews of 2 flights; 

Health certificate (if passengers are required to medical clearance before departure); 

– UM/YPTA travel documents and other documents as specified by the authorities at the relevant airports. 

 

4. Other notes 

– When making reservation, UM/YPTA will only be accepted for travel if the parents or guardians can assure that the child will be picked up on arrival or at transfer point. 

– Complete the “Handling advice for unaccompanied minor” and/or “Consent form – UM” in which it is clearly stated that parents/guardians/authorized persons have signed these forms at the place of request. 

– Advising directly to parents/guardians/authorised persons: 

  • The person seeing off the UM/YPTA at departure station and UM/YPTA must be present at departure station at least 2 hours before departure. 

  • The person seeing off the UM/YPTA at departure station must complete all procedures for UM/YPTA before departure and wait until the plane takes off. 

  • The person meeting UM/YPTA on arrival must be present at destination station at least 30 minutes before departure. 

  • The person seeing off the UM/YPTA meeting UM/YPTA on arrival must show all necessary identity documents to certify the information as appeared in the “Handling advice for unaccompanied minor”. 

  • If passenger’s declaration (on medical status, escorts, etc.) is not true, passenger shall be refused for carriage. Bamboo Airways shall not be responsible for any unexpected cost arisen from the refusal of carriage.
