Ha Long Bay has been twice recognised as a World Natural Heritage site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO). The Heritage site has become a magnet drawing domestic and international visitors to Quang Ninh.
The highlight of this wonder is the beautiful system of rocky islands and caves consisting of two types of limestone islands and schist islands, concentrated in two main areas, the southeast of Bai Tu Long Bay and the southwest of the Bay. Ha Long Bay is also home to hundreds of extraordinarily rich and diversified species of flora and animals, as well as a high concentration of biodiversity with typical ecosystems.
